When it comes to football's greatest ever player, there are a number of candidates.Diego Maradona, Pele and Alfredo Di Stefano are all recognised as greats, while Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo can each stake claims from the modern era.FourFourTwo magazine attempted to identify football's GOAT this week by releasing their 'Top 100 Football Players of All Time'.At number 10 is Brazilian Ronaldo, while Ferenc Puskas, Zinedine Zidane and Franz Beckenbauer occupy ninth, eighth and seventh respectively.Di Stefano then comes in at sixth, with Ronaldo fifth and Johan Cruyff fourth.And in the top three, FourFourTwo claim Pele is the third greatest ever player, Messi is second and Argentina legend Maradona is number one.Check out their 'Top 100 Football Players of All Time' here.There are arguments to be made for each of the top 10, but many now believe Messi has surpassed Pele and Maradona as football's greatest following a quite incredible career at Barcelona.The 30-year-old may not have lifted the World Cup with Argentina, but he's won everything there is to possibly win domestically and, in terms of individual ability, is unrivalled.Messi's sponsors, Adidas, certainly think that's the case anyway judging by their recent activity on Twitter.Adidas unveiled the all-new Ocean Storm Nemeziz football boots on Friday with the following tweet which, of course, featured Messi.
